M-CITY (PL)

Mariusz Waras, known professionally as M-City is a Polish artist who is revered for his large-scale industrial themed murals. One of Poland’s, and perhaps Nuart’s, best known artists, M-City has worked on walls across the globe including several trips to previous Nuart events and projects. His work involves piecing together hundreds of carefully cut stencils to create a coherent imagined cityscape, generally of mechanical and industrial objects. He is intrigued by industrial spaces and their surroundings and has produced work up to 85 meters long - taking his inspiration from the factories, hydroelectric plants, chimneys, and cranes that dominate his native town and childhood.

Meticulously crafted, with layers of stencils and seemingly infinite stark black and white details, his murals have graced the streets of countless cities. He is an incredibly prolific artist, having over 700 pieces to his M-City project alone. His street work can be found in Prague, Berlin, Warsaw , Budapest, Sao Paolo, Stavanger, Mexico City, Tel Aviv ,Paris, London and New York, to name a few.

His studio work has also been featured in numerous group and solo shows spanning the continents.

He currently lectures at the Department of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.
