MURMURE (FR)

After studying at the Beaux-Arts, Paul Ressencourt and Simon Roche, both drawing enthusiasts, have been working in public spaces since 2010. They cover walls with finely-detailed characters created on paper to create ephemeral exhibitions under the name of Murmure Street.

Paul and Simon, Artistic Director and Technical Director respectively, interact with the urban environment and create singular and poetic scenes. Their goal is to investigate the boundaries between art and communication, exploring with passion how the two interact and feed each other continuously. Sometimes playful, dreamlike or poetic, their black and white drawings are made on particularly fine paper in scale 1:1 and then shot in limited series. The installations interact seamlessly with the environment thanks to a level of realism obtained through using black stone (chalk) to create the works. Drop shadows unhook the characters from the wall and also give depth to the installations.

Their drawings are not conceived according to a specific place of intervention, but rather to be able to live in different places and urban spaces. The drawing is thus only the first step of the work: the search for new spaces, the interplay with the elements and urban hazards, the physical structure and colour of the walls, these make the singularity of each work.
