TRIANGULUM DESIGN COMPETITION

Nuart is inspiring over 100 students to submit street art-inspired designs for a new fleet of battery-powered buses in Stavanger.

The project, which is supported by Stavanger Kommune and Rogaland Fylkeskommune, launched on Friday 12 February at Vågen videregående skole in Sandnes, with Nuart invited to provide information and inspiration on how to design eye-catching public artworks.

The project is raising awareness about Kolumbus’ fleet of new battery-powered buses – one of many new ‘smart’ initiatives being piloted in the city as part of the EU-funded Triangulum programme.

Along with Manchester (UK) and Eindhoven (NL), Stavanger is one of three pilot cities where various smart, environmentally friendly technologies for energy, ICT and mobility will be introduced with a view to being implemented in other cities worldwide.

The students from Vaagen Bergeland and Godalen high schools in Stavanger have until the 18th March to submit their designs, after which a jury will shortlist three designs to go to a separate public ballot to decide the overall winner. The jury consists of the County Mayor, Solveig Ege Tengesdal, Nuart Director, Martyn Reed, and two representatives from Rogaland’s artistic community. Announcement of the winner takes place in May with the new buses to be unveiled in June.
