CHRISTIAN OMODEO (FR)
Christian Omodeo is an art historian and a Research Fellow at the Université Paris-Sorbonne.
He is currently artistic director of the agency The Great Game and teaches contemporary art in various Parisian universities. He worked at the National Institute of History of Art from 2005 to 2010, working in “Directory of Italian paintings in French public collections (XIII-XIX centuries).” In parallel, he prepared a doctoral thesis on the painter Vincenzo Camuccini (1771-1844), supported in 2011 at the Paris-Sorbonne University under the direction of Barthélémy Jobert. From 2010-2012, he taught at the University of Picardie Jules Verne, Amiens, before collaborating in 2013 with the Fesch Museum of Ajaccio in the exhibition project “The Roman people of the Republic in the first unit : between myth and history.”
Since 2008 his interest has focused on urban art and graffiti, working as an expert artistic advisor, curator and critic. After curating the first edition of the festival “Outdoor” in Rome in 2010 he helped draft the “Tour Paris 13” (2013) and has collaborated with several galleries (LJ Gallery, Paris; Galo Art Gallery Turin Wunderkammern , Rome) and public and private institutions (Mayor of the 13th arrondissement, Paris, Saint-Louis Centre of the French, Rome Bunker, Turin Leoncavallo, Milan). He has to his credit two books: What’s Hogre? (Mondo Bizzarro, 2012) and C215 : A master stencilist (Criteria, 2014) and currently leads a discussion on issues identified by the presence of graffiti in public space.
