MIKKEL BOLT (DK)
Mikkel Bolt (DK) is an art historian and political theorist, employed as a lecturer in cultural history at the Department of Arts and Culture, University of Copenhagen. Bolt has published books and articles about activism, avant-garde, revolutionary tradition, contemporary art and anti-terrorism. He defines himself as a Marxist art historian and is part of the left-wing movement in Copenhagen. He is in the editorial board of the academic journal K&K and previously edited the journals Currently and Mutant. For several years, he conducted a conversation with Das Beckwerk on life and art, published in 2008. Bolt, together with the visual artist and activist Jakob Jakobsen, arranged a series of seminars and workshops on Scandinavian Situationism and Image Policy in People's House in Nørrebro. Together with the visual artist and activist Jakob Jakobsen, Bolt owns the publishing house Nebula, which publishes books on radical theory and experimental art.
Bolt is author of six books in Danish, two in English - Crisis to Insurrection: Notes on the ongoing collapse (Minor Compositions, 2014) and Playmates and Playboys at a Higher Level: J.V. Martin and the Situationist International (Sternberg, 2015) - and a long list of articles about the revolutionary tradition and modern art in journals such as Multitudes, New Formations, Oxford Art Journal, Rethinking Marxism, Texte zur Kunst, Third Text and Variations. Editor of 6 books in Danish and three in English - Totalitarian Art and Modernity (ed. w. Jacob Wamberg, 2010), Expect Anything Fear Nothing: The Situationist Movement in Scandinavia and Elsewhere (ed. w. Jakob Jakobsen, 2011) and Cosmonauts of the Future: Texts from the Situationist Movement in Scandninavia and Elsewhere (ed. w. Jakob Jakobsen). He is also an occasional cultural producer, most recently the exhibition This World We Must Leave in Aarhus Kunstbygning in 2010 with Jakob Jakobsen, new edition Kunsthall Oslo, 2016.
