M-CITY (PL)

M-CITY (PL) Mariusz Waras known professionally as M-City, is a Polish artist who is revered for his large-scale industrial themed murals. One of Poland’s best known artists, M-City has worked on walls across the globe including several in Stavanger on previous trips to Nuart. His work involves piecing together hundreds of carefully cut stencils to create a coherent imagined cityscape, generally of mechanical and industrial objects. He is intrigued by industrial spaces and their surroundings and has produced work up to 85 meters long - taking his inspiration from the factories, hydroelectric plants, chimneys, and cranes that dominated his native town and childhood.

He is an incredibly prolific artist, having notched up over 700 pieces to his M-City project alone. Born in Gdynia, M-City currently lectures at the Department of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.
