First day of our international Street Art symposium focuses on the rise and rise of Muralism. Is it morphine for the masses complicit with gentrification or, a vibrant valid art of the people with it's roots in Latin American resistance...or something else entirely. We're here to find out. Joining us are some of the worlds leading names in Street Art to discuss this and other aspects of our culture.

12.20-13.00 Andreco (IT): Artist Presentation
Scientist, Artist, Activist, Muralist. Andreco is an environmental engineer with a PHD specializing in sustainability which he uses in his murals describing the relationship between humans and nature as well as between the built environment and the natural landscape.
13.15-13.50 Peter Bengtsen: “Street art, murals and public space as a site of exploration”
Peter Bengtsen is an art historian and sociologist, currently working at the Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences at Lund University, Sweden. He has been writing about street art since 2006. He recently published the book The Street Art World.
13.55-14.30 RJ Rushmore aka Vandalog “Art Ignites Change: Infiltrating the system to promote social justice”
RJ has authored two books, curated exhibitions and is currently communications manager at the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, editor-in-chief of Vandalog, and co-curator and artist liaison for The L.I.S.A. Project NYC.
