The exhibition is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00–17:00 and runs until the 6th of October.
Celebrating its nineteenth year, Nuart Festival - one of the world’s leading celebrations of street art - returns to Tou, center for contemporary arts to stage the festival’s main indoor exhibition from Sunday 8th September.
Brand New, You’re Retro – Nuart Festival’s indoor exhibition – opened its doors to the public Saturday the 7th of September. The exhibition showcases works from eleven world-renowned artists within the seven iconic beer halls at Tou (Kvitsøygata 25, 4014, Stavanger). Through an intense production period, the artists have been for the most, working directly on the walls in the venue, creating works that follow the genuine ethos behind the ephemeral nature of street art proper.
11 artists from 7 countries will transform the vast beer halls of the former 19th century brewery with murals, sculptures, interventions, multi-media installations and more.
Check out the 1UP tunnel with genuine railtracks and film screening, the Dr.D and Edwin installation on climate change or the minimal approach of Paul Harfleet and Julio Anaya Cabanding. This is without a doubt the most impressive exhibition the city has seen all year. Find out why these artists are regarded as some of the worlds leading names in Street Art culture.
The exhibition space consists of seven 15m x 15m x 5m tunnels, an interconnecting tunnel and large entrance hall. Artists are encouraged to work directly on the walls with high-quality lighting and production ensuring a museum-quality exhibition.
Tou also boasts one of the finest collections of outdoor work in Stavanger created by visiting artists who have spilled out of the tunnels to produce unsanctioned works in the surrounding area. This is the meeting point for our street art tours, which take place every Sunday at 14:00.
