NUNO VIEGAS (PT)
Nuno Viegas aka Metis hails from Portugal with his artistic roots entrenched in the late 90’s graffiti scene. A geographical move to the Netherlands saw his artist ambition evolve, continuing to utilize the skills he learned from graffiti but approaching walls with a new perspective. The use of depth and shadow in Nuno’s work appears to elevate it beyond simple 3D but creates a new space which uniquely straddles the worlds of muralism and graffiti.
Indeed a crown filled with tags or a paper plane covered in bubble letters allude to the artists past while the imagery brings him very much into the here and now. He looks to represent both graffiti and hip hop culture through his work and the contrast can be both visually aggressive but also peaceful. Nuno presents work that is uniquely his own and garners respect from graffiti heads and street artists alike.
