JOFRE OLIVERAS (ES)
Jofre Oliveras is Spanish visual artist who works across many mediums creating murals, sculpture and installations. His work is based around research and ideas derived from an understanding of our public spaces, seeing beyond the commodification of people and looking to the interactions and conversations that happen in our towns, both sanctioned and unsanctioned.
Nature, repetition and movement are all themes explored in Jofres early work, often working together to bring a new ideal to the viewer and removing any preconceived notions of the city. Jofre understands the landscape as a part of the art work, requiring constant research of new concepts and contexts. Recent works have seen him explore the wider city and the population which it serves, with witty interventions and stand murals meticulously executed working side by side.
Jofre Oliveras defines art as a comunication process derived from human sensitivity. He thinks that art must be a tool to define the needs for change in people, society and the historical context. Through image as a language, he uses satire to criticize social convictions and conventionalism.
