NUART SENIORS PROGRAM
Nuart's Seniors Program continues with a virtual street art tour for those with mobility issues followed by a world first - Street Art Bingo !
Inspired by Lara Seixo Rodrigues' Graffiti Grandma project in Portugal Lata 65, Nuart´s Seniors Program aims to engage senior citizens in Street Art practice.
The program will see Nuart deliver workshops, presentations, activities and film screenings at nursing homes across Stavanger, with participants ranging from 80-100 years old…proving that you´re never too old for street art !
The workshops provide a virtual street art tour of key works from Nuart´s 18 year history as well as a newly devised game of Street Art Bingo, which combines traditional bingo with the more visual Mexican “loteria”.
The program is devised in partnership with Stavanger Kommune as part of Den kulturelle spaserstokken, a Government-funded initiative to provide varied arts and culture experiences for Norway’s elderly generation.
James Finucane, Nuart Festival Manager said: ‘We're delighted to have the opportunity to deliver these workshops to nursing homes throughout the region. Not only are they an interesting alternative to the kind of activities usually offered to this age group, they also demonstrate the potential that Street Art holds as a catalyst for involving and integrating older groups within the wider community.”
