VIDEO: HELEN BUR (UK) - NUART FESTIVAL 2018

There are a lot of incredibly talented mural artists in the world; a lot of equally talented figuartive easel painters, and a lot of scholarly conceptual artists. Standing out from this and finding an original voice in any of these fields isn't easy. 

British artist Helen Bur has found a way to combine them all in a manner that is truly authentic. Continuing a tradition of celebrating ordinary people that started with Caravaggio, whilst also scaling up her studio work to match that of the very best muralists, her foresight to take this back down to street level and a human scale by creating unsanctioned portraits of those that populate the same streets makes her a truly unique voice in street art culture.
